Q: 2005 Toyota Corolla-How often should I change the transmisson Filter/Fluid?
I lost the service manual for my 2005 Corolla. How often should I change the trans fluid and filter? Thanks.
Is there a drain plug on the pan? Do I need to remove the pan to change the fluid?
A: THERE IS NO MANUFACTURER SPECIFIED INTERVAL FOR TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE ON YOUR COROLLA.NORMALLY YOU WOULD CHECK FOR DARK FLUID ON THE DIPSTICK AND/OR BURNED SMELL,USUALLY AROUND 30,000 MILES.2005 COROLLAS DO NOT HAVE A TRANSMISSION FILTER THAT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED OR REPLACED.
Q: how do i uninstall stock cd player from a 2005 toyota corolla?
i bought a new stereo deck and i need to remove the stock cd player from my 2005 corolla, how do i do it?
A: get out your screwdriver
look if there is a piece of the dashboard that unscrews or pops off
it is actually very easy to change the stereo.
I reccomend buying the wiring adaptor for your car $5-10
it makes it so you can solder that up to the stereo on a workbench, then just plug it in
that is much better than cutting wires in your car and then soldering them in place. this can give you a sore back and much cursing.
and also with the adaptor if you ever want to change it or put the original stereo back in to sell the car it is much easier

I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla and my air condition blows Hot air. I dont thinkk the compressor is working.

A: Sounds like your AC is working ok, but it just probably needs to be re charged. They Sell AC re charger kits at checkers or any auto stores out there. Its pretty easy to do this yourself, but if not you can see if someone you know that can do it for you.
Also another thing you can check is your AC Filter that is located behind your glove box. Check that and see if that needs to be replaced.
Q: How to install a Serpentine Belt on a 2005 Toyota Corolla S?
Does Toyota have an instruction guide that I could follow to install a new belt. I already purchased the new belt but I have not found out how to put it in.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
A: Open the hood and either on the front rail or the underside of the hood should be a diagram. The smooth side of the belt goes on smooth pulleys and the grooved side of belt goes on grooved pulleys. Always start with the crank pulley and work up on both sides and ending at the tensioner pulley.
Q: What's a good Trunk Mounted Bike Rack for 2005 Toyota Corolla with Spoiler?
I need help please!!!
Iv been looking all over for a trunk bike rack for my Toyota corolla. I have seen a lot of them but the problem is they wont fit because of the spoiler. What is a good kind of rack that is safe for my bike and not too expensive. I need help please!!! Thanks!
A: The saris bones 2 or 3 bike trunk mount one should still work with your spoiler. These are sold at most bike shops and I bit they will let you try it before you buy it.
Q: Where can I find clips to re-attach my underbody spoiler on my 2005 Toyota Corolla?
I scraped against a snow back this past winter and took the side underbody spoiler off. Most of the clips that attach it to the car are broken so I need to buy more and want to know where I can buy them. Do they need to be made by Toyota or is this a typical clip that I can find somewhere? Thanks in advance for any help.
A: Take one off and go to a body shop tell them how many you need, they should have them for ya - give him a few bucks even if he says no charge.
They dont cost much - but it is a good idea to keep the bodyman happy - and they always are good friends to have.
Lay it in the sun (let it warm up) before you put it on, it makes fitting it a LOT easier.
Q: Power lock failure on 2005 Toyota Corolla?
I have a 2005 toyota corolla and my front passenger door lock is stuck. The door handles do not work, nor does a key. When the car is locked, it makes almost a machine gun sound. I am totally unable to open the door. What is wrong and how much will it cost to fix it?
A: Oh-boy. You may need to try to remove the inner panel to get at the linkage. The linkage may have come undone, or has jammed. The problem may be that to get the panel off without damage, usually the door needs to be open. Best of luck.
Q: Where can find this part for my 2005 Toyota Corolla?
My auto mechanic said my Toyota needed a "kimber kit" for him to fix my car. My car pulls to the left when i'm driving and my tires wear down very quick!
A: You can search for the part from http://www.automotive-online.com, you will get the list of suppliers for that part with contact details of the suppliers. Contact them.
Q: I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla. How do I reset the drive cycle?
Went to get the emissions check for license renewal and machines state "not ready". Recently replaced the battery but I think my mechanic didn't do a reset.
A: You cannot just reset the drive cycle. The computer needs to "see" certain variables in your driving. The computer will run certain on board tests that take some time to satisfy. If you are a very short distance driver, this can take a long time to have the tests complete. Best for you is to take the car on a few long drives. 20 miles each way. Include normal neighborhood driving, stop and go and get a run in of about 10 miles highway driving on each trip. I will note that if you drive 20 miles, stop and shut the car off at that 20 mile mark. Restart and proceed back the way you came. You should satisfy the tests quickly this way.
Q: Poor Gas Mileage in 2005 Toyota Corolla?
I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla with about 87,000 miles on it. In recent months, the gas mileage has been getting increasingly poor. I used to get about 350 to a tank...now I am lucky to get 250!! I have changed the Air Filter and checked all of my tires and still nothing has made it any better so it leads me to believe it may be more severe. I want to take it in, but don't want to be taken advantage of so any advice on what to check out is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
The car does still pretty much drive the same, however, I can feel a decrease in "pep" or power in the past few months. It is winter here, however, we don't get much snow here in Texas. I didn't even think about the spark plugs and will check those out this afternoon when I get home.
A: You may need to get your fuel injectors serviced, or it could have something to do with your exhaust system.
If you are not capable of doing your own mechanical maintenance, the next best thing is to go to your Toyota dealer, or other major, brand-name repair shop. They probably can't tell you what it is, so have them run a full diagnostic test. It will cost about $100, but it will print out a report that they will go over with you. They will also give you estimates to resolve anything that needs to be repaired or replaced. You should take that diagnostic report to 1 or 2 other repair shops and get estimates from them as well.
Remember, not everything on the report needs to be fixed immediately.
Q: Can a worn serpentine belt in a 2005 Toyota Corolla cause the CEL to come on?
My serpentine belt has needed replacing for awhile, but the check engine light just came on today. Is it possible that the light is caused by the belt finally being on its last legs?
A: Yes.
WARNING TO TOYOTA DRIVERS
If your car decides to accelerate on it's own, do NOT apply the brakes, you will burn them out.
Instead, shift into neutral, disengaging the engine. THEN apply the brakes. After, SHUT THE CAR OFF.
DO NOT shut the car off while driving, you will disable your vacuum assisted breaks and make the car harder to stop.
Q: What tool do I need to replace a 2005 Toyota Corolla S serpentine belt?
It looks like an inverted torx. The 19mm socket everyone recommends is the wrong shape and way too big for any bolts on my car. I haven't even seen the square hole for a breaker bar or socket wrench anywhere!
A: just did one a 2006 corolla you need a 17mm long wrench on the tensioner it has a boss that looks like a bolt head thats what you put the wrench on.its next to the tensioner shock. you dont need to losten any bolts just pull on tensioner with wrench. honda/toyota tech 12yrs.
Q: Which is better 2000 Honda Civic or 2005 Toyota Corolla?
I'm wanting to buy a new car and there is a 2000 honda civic for $5,700 it's an automatic that just aquired a new engine, had some wreck damage that was repaired.
or there is a 2005 toyota corolla for $9,000 it's a manual also had wreck damage that had been repaired and has 70,000 miles on it which would you recommend to purchase?
A: I would never buy a car that had been in a wreck..they are never the same. Pass on both of them....those are ridiculous prices anyway.
Q: How do I fix my gas cap problem for a 2005 Toyota Corolla?
When I tighten the cap it snaps as if it is closed and I do it three times as the writing on the cap says. However, it's not truly closed and the cap still falls off. I got a new gas cap, but the problem remains. Any idea what I need to do or what parts I need to replace?
A: Sounds like the threads are stripped out of the fill pipe. If that is the case you will need a new filler pipe. check your warranty book to see if that is covered under the emission warranty. if the cap won't stay on you cant pass a smog test! check with the dealer - they may replace it for free.
