Q: Is it possible to replace a 2004 Toyota Corolla's rear drum brakes with disc brakes?
I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla S.
I want to replace the rear drum brakes with disc brakes
Is this possible?
Is there a shop for this in Minneapolis, MN?
A: It sounds like you are getting sick of the salt on the roads.....and your little car, too.
I really don't think it would be economical to do so. It's like putting a square peg in a round hole. You can do it if you force it. From what I can remember, it never came with rear disc brakes as an option.
Everything would be custom-configured (including the alignment), so you and only you will be working on it forever......I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole in my shop......liabilities abound. Nobody wants to be sued.
Q: The car radio on my 2004 toyota corolla ex does not work, where in the fuse box is the fuse?
The CD, radio, and the rear view mirror does not work due to the lack of electricity. I was wondering if the fuse box was broken. I've found the fuse box, but I'm which one is the fuse to fix it.
If possible, answer in Chinese.
請問專家2004 toyota corolla ex 收音機沒電.保險絲盒找不到收音機保險絲,保險絲在是否在收音機內部,thanks
A: Your Manual will tell you which power fuse to use and where to find them. But I don't think its a fuse - I think you got some loose wires.
Q: Question on a 2004 Toyota Corolla and new tires?
Hi, I bought a toy corolla 2004 back in 04. Already in 2005 I had to have an alignment and new tires put on. Now it's 2008 and this has to be done again. How long should an alignment last, tires, etc. Am I being ripped off by the Dealer? Thanks no sarcasm please.
A: Corollas are a great car.
Study how you are wearing the tyres! Are the back ones wearing flat across, or wearing unevenly? Are you wearing out the outside of the front ones?
The rears should be wearing out almost flat right across, such that the centre would be the first part t wear out.
The fronts will wear more quickly. It is normal for the outer edge to wear first.
However I would expect that, when the fronts are looking a bit too worn on the outside, and you change the front wheels to the back and use the backs on the front, you should obtain around 100, 000 kM (or somewhere about 60, 000 miles) from a set of tyres. Even more if you turn the tyres on the rims so the wear is to the inside.
Of course, driving techniques come into the equation. If you brake heavily, turn corners excessively fast, or perform braking while turning etc., you will not get good tyre life.
Alignment, in my opinion, should NEVER be performed unless there is unusual wear rates or patterns. There are too many dealers who will talk you into alignments when there is no reason. All they usually do is unnecessarily move settings, and cause further problems, or do nothing at all except make more money from you.
Corollas have front and rear alignment adjustments. So short of having had an accident or doing damage to the suspension system, I would just monitor the tyres... and drive sensibly.
Personally, no car of mine has EVER had an alignment.... and I get excellent distance from tyres!
Q: 2004 Toyota corolla wont start but clicks?
I have a family member who owns a Toyota Corolla that I think is a 2000-2004 and he said it does not start but just makes a clicking noise?
I had the same problem with my 2000 Ford Contour and it ended up being the battery cables having some corrosion from not taking them off when I poured baking soda on the post to get rid of the corrosion.
Any help would be appreciated! :)
A: As you can tell from everyone else's answers, there are several possible causes. Actually, there is one main cause. And that is that there isn't enough power getting to the starter to turn it on. That's what happens when it only "clicks".
Now, WHY it's not getting power is the reason for all of everybody's answers. And they're all valid, as is your own corrosion problem.
The easiest is indeed because the battery cable clamp and/or battery post is/are corroded. That stupid white powder just won't stop being created. I've tried all kinds of gimicks and efforts, and it just won't stop. So then all it requires is regular maintenance to once a month, open hood, and clean the batty contacts to make sure they stay clean enough to power the starter.
Next problems would be such as bad starter, bad starter relay, bad cables, etc. As already said, there's tons of possibilities. But usually, it's the most common, and therefore, the easiest to keep from happening, too.
So keep track of what everyone has said, and start with the easiest to check out, and work down. Eventually you'll find what the problem is.
Q: 2004 Toyota Corolla check engine light is on but car is running fine, anyone know why?
My '04 Corolla has 54,002 miles on it and the check engine light came on this morning when I started it, and it has stayed on. It is running fine and all fluids are full. It's not making any strange noises and has no performance problems. Does anyone have any idea why the light is on?
A: oil change due?
Q: 2004 toyota Corolla head light wont turn on?
Hello,
I have 2004 toyota corolla and head light wont turn on. Turn signals do works just head lights. Also i have lost fuse box cover to see what fuse do i need to check. Any suggestion. please reply asap.
A: I am afraid the system is somewhat complicated by the daytime running lights, but there are 4 fuses directly feeding the headlamps, all located in the box under the hood on the left side. They will be labeled Head upr and Head lwr. If it is not one of these, I would recommend taking it to the dealer, as there is also a daytime running light relay, a dimmer relay, a headlamp relay, the switch and a light control sensor involved, any one of which could knock out your headdlamps.
Hope this helps! God bless!
Q: I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla what kind of remote car starter will I need?
Can I use just any or will it have to be from the Toyota Dealer?
A: The only requirement is that you have an automatic tranny in it. that's so that the car will start in gear with no trouble. If standard or manual tranny, then you can't use car starter remotes.
But if you've got an AT in it, then any you can get, even at Walmart, will work, just need to have it installed correctly.
And let me tell you, those suckers are really nice to start up car 5 mins before leaving on a cold morning!! Lovely!!
Q: Did the 2004 Toyota corolla come in natural white or suer white?
I got a corolla, but dont have the manual yet, and there are a few scratches that i want to fix but i dont know if its super white or natural white, i dont think they made both whites on 2004s so if i can just figure out which one they did ill be good.

Q: I see 2 drain plugs for my toyota corolla 2004? how do i know which one to unplug?
im changing the oil on my toyota corolla 2004. i removed a drain plug on the driver's side. and while finding the oil filter, i found another drain plug on the passenger side for a different tank next to the oil filter.. should i remove that too?
A: one drain will be your engine oil, the other will be your transmission fluid. pull ur dipstick, if after draining the first one, you still have engine oil in engine, you drained the transmission on accident.
Q: Does the 2004 Toyota Corolla have an aux input jack?
I have a first generation iPod Nano that I used to play in the car with a cassette adapter, but now the cassette player's broken (and the car is no longer under manufacturer's warranty), so I'm looking for another way to play the iPod. I don't want an FM transmitter, as those tend to vary greatly in quality. I know that if the car has an aux input jack, I can do it through that, but I wasn't sure whether the 2004 Toyota Corolla LE had one?
A: yes it is posible this is the toyota AuX plug

Also I know about KBB but what is good price between trade in value which is around $3200 and retail which is around 7,000. What is a good in between ratio.
A: Depends who was driving it before , where is the car from , but if interior is good and the motor runs good 135 thousand mile there is plenty of driving time left on the car,

Q: Does anyone know how to fold down the rear seat in my 2004 Toyota Corolla ?
The trunk won't open with key or inside release lever. So I need to how to get the seat to fold down. And yes I know there is a release lever in the trunk for the seat, but i can't get to it.
A: You could, remove the lower part of the seat, the part you sit on, then unbolt the top half. Just lift the bottom half, it should just snap off. At the very least you will be able to wedge yourself into your trunk to hit the release lever.
Q: How much does a front brake system cost for a 2004 Toyota Corolla?
The dealer told me 200 w/out roters and 400 with?
Am I getting ripped off?
A: Unfortunately it seems to me that a good many shops seem to take advantage of people, particularly women, on brake repairs, selling them new pads, rotors and calipers very frequently when they are not necessary and heaping on excessive hours for labor on the repairs, which for the most part are quite easy to do.
I've changed more than a few sets of brakes in my life, and have changed the brakes on a Corolla or two. I think you might expect to pay about $35 for a set of pads in a shop, as they necessarily double what they pay to get a reasonable profit margin. Call the job an hour's labor and you are up to about $115-120. If the rotors need to be resurfaced (turned on a metal lathe) to bring them smooth again, add perhaps another $20 a wheel. Add to that shop costs (rags, grease, supplies, tax etc.) and $200 does not sound ridiculously high--though you could do the job yourself for less than half that even if you took the rotors off and took them to a machine shop to be turned.
I would find it quite unusual if your rotors are so badly grooved on so new a car that they had to be replaced. Even if they do, I should think the cost for the job should be no higher than $300 as there is less labor involved in installing new rotors than in removing, turning, and reinstalling the old ones, so the only difference there is the price of the part less the cost of turning--as the new ones will not have to be turned.
The fact is, on most of the Toyotas I have worked on, there is rarely a need to turn the rotors at all in the first 60,000 miles or so, and usually one can get by simply replacing the pads. If they say the rotors need replacing ask them to show you. They need not be absolutely smooth as glass to perform properly, just not deeply gouged or scortched.
Additionally,.just to show them you know a little about cars, tell them that when they are putting it back together you want the wheel lugs hand-tightened--no air wrenches. A common trick that shops do is to tighten the wheel lugs with an air wrench that exerts too much side force unevenly distributed from lug to lug on the rotor. As a consequence, the rotor warps in fairly short order and you get a pulsating feeling in the brakes, particularly when braking from high speeds. Then you are back in the shop getting the rotors returned or replaced.
Q: Why do the fuel injectors keep going out on my 2004 Toyota Corolla?
I have had to replace 2 fuel injectors since the car was bought in 2006. I feel like this is not normal. Does anyone know why this is happening?
A: When is the last time that the fuel filter was replaced? If it has not been replaced then that may be the root of your problem
