Q: Is $7,995 a good deal for a 2002 toyota corolla CE with 40,795 miles?
im currently shopping for my first car right now, and im looking at hondas and toyotas..im wondering is this a good deal, and it's at a car dealership.
A: One of the keys to pricing a car is to effectively rate the car as the price will vary widely based on condition and mileage. Mileage is pretty obvious. You should base condition on a Carfax report (which would also help catch any odometer fraud) and your own review. Before you buy your final step should be an inspection by a qualified mechanic - but that's too expensive to do on every car you look at.
There are a bunch of places to check car prices on the Internet. NADA guides is one - but since they are owned by the car dealers association I never recommend them. KBB is another. Driverside.com is a new site and they have a couple of extras - great data showing price based on mileage; DriverSide Estimate where they search actual listings to find what cars are actually selling for in local markets; and estimates for trade in pricing. As you can see with this link it is a good deal - assuming it has a good history and inspection!

Also take a look a the DriverSide cost of ownership - service, gas, insurance and even depreciation to see how the price will drop over time. I find that most folks look at the one time sales price - not the ongoing costs which continue long after you buy your car.

Q: 2002 Toyota Corolla CE 1.8 Liter?
Does the Toyota Corolla 2002 have a metal or rubber timing belt??
A: it has a timing chain. no timing belt.
Q: What is the correct tire pressure for a Toyota Corolla CE 2002 with 1 and 3 passenger?
No driver's door or any sticker with this info found
A: The correct tire pressure for that car would probably be 32 lbs. It will be moulded into the tire itself. You may need glasses to see it because it is in small print but it is there. Department of Transportation rules state that the max tire pressure must be "written" on the tire in order for tire to be sold in the United States. But unless you have aftermarket wheels and tires the correct factory tire pressure was 32 lbs psi.
Q: Wich is better a 2002 SAAB 9-3 with 135K miles for 5200$ or a 2002 Toyota Corolla CE with 82K miles for 6300$?
A: Take the toyota my friend...they are extremely reliable and you can probably get 250000-300000 miles on it before it dies.
Q: Where is the transmission drain plug located in a 2002 Corolla?
I heard the transmission drain plug is in the bottom of the engine, i don't want to get confused with the engine oil drain plug next time i am doing an oil change. Can anyone tell me the difference, so next time i will not unscrew the wrong drain plug?
Car: 2002 Toyota Corolla Ce Automatic transmission
A: The transmission drain plug is on the bottom of the transmission. The engine oil drain plug is on the bottom of the engine's oil pan. Engine oil will be amber to black. Transmission oil is red. It isn't easy to get the transmission drain mixed up with the engine's. If you got the right plug last time, you won't mistake it next time.

I am thinking about buying a Toyota Corolla (2002) model CE. Any opinions on this vehicle? I've heard they are reliable and I just want to know if anyone has had any experiences with this car.
A: Toyota Corrolla's are notoriously reliable vehicles. Not always a comfortable ride compared to some other vehicles but certainly reliable. Just be sure you know how much you should pay before you sign on the line. Good luck.

I bought a tire pressure gauge today, but i don't have a car maual. i couldn't find it on the car jam either.
Car: 2002 Toyota Corolla Ce Automatic 3 speed
A: Toyota Recommends 32 PSI F AND R. Don't forget to check your tire treads. Don't forget to rotate tires every 5,000 miles to extend tire life. (Front to Rear and Rear to Front).

A: ok, you know the wire that connects to the alternator and runs to the battery, (just follow the wire, and you will see) you need to replace that wire with 1/0 guage wire. and thats it. also since you remove the belt, you might as well replace the belt you have on the car, is coming off anyway, and only cost about 15-20 bucks.
Q: Which is the better used car for a first time teen driver?
I have elimanated, from thousands of possible cars to 7 cars. Which of the following cars is better? There are all relatively the same price.

2006 Chevrolet Malibu LT
2005 Pontiac Vibe

don't buy a yaris, they are inferior to the Honda Fit
some ppl love the malibu but I just don't care for it
the altima is a good vehicle
G35 is wonderful car but not for a new driver
Q: What to expect?
Ok I was looking into a 2007 toyota corolla ce for 11,900 dollars, but I want to trade in my 2002 Tahoe LT, (148000mi) which according to blue book is worth 12,200 private value
Would I get ripped off in the trade in...
I know it's better to see outside, but I've been selling for 2 months and nothing...I really want a car to save gas now.
p.s. is there a chance they would give me an even exchange?
A: OK - here is the story on trading in a car.
First off, no, you wont get to do an even exchange. And no, you wont get Kelly retail on your car - ever.
As a dealer, when I take in a trade, I have to look at the car, how it fits in my market plan, and what I am going to do with it. Let's say that this is a Toyota dealership out Asker is shopping at.
Q1 - does this truck fit into my market plan? Likely not. Not too many dealers can use a 148000 mile truck on their lot. As a dealer, I have to be able to at least warranty safety items for 30 days - and on a truck with 148k on the clock, I doubt I want to do that. Also, will I have many buyers looking for that ride? Probably not. So, this is not exactly a desirable trade for me to buy
Q2 - what to give for the car? I look at TRADE value of the car, not Kelly Retail. If you go to KBB.com and look at trade in values, you will see three numbers. Usually, the lowest number is almost right. When I look at a trade, I also look at dealer auctions in my area to see what similar trucks have brought at auction. Let's say that - at auction -your truck would bring $6000.00 tops. That is the number I have to look at.
As someone said before, we are in business to make a profit. I don't need to make it all from one spot, but the deal has to make sense on both sides of the table before its a deal.
So - at auction, that car is worth $6000. To me, that is my "out". I have to buy your truck for a maximum of $5800 t make sense -after reconditioning and auction fees I might break even on the trade...
Q3 is this a desirable car even at auction? Unfortunately, depending on geography, that answer is no. A 02 tahoe with 148K will not have bidders standing in line in most areas. So, I need to hedge my bets a little further still.

I know everyone likes to villify the big bad dealer. We are not the most highly regarded profession. But a lot of 'bad deals' you hear about are not necessarily the dealers fault. Yes, we want to make a profit. So does your grocer, your day care, and your landlord. But educate yourselves on the ins and outs of how we function, go in educated with reasonable expectations, and you will probably be surprised at how easy, and pleasant the experience can be.
Good luck!
