Q: How much to have 2002 toyota corolla motor rebuilt?
I have a 2002 toyota corolla. 1.8 L 16 Valve engine. I currently just had engine rebuilt and they kept my car for 2 weeks and charged me $4800. 1200 for labor and 2800 for engine and a water pump. Is this a good price? I found a engine rebuild kit for $762. So i figure i was over priced if i was please let me know.
Thank you
If that kit is 762 and labor 1000 which i understand but i dont know how they got 4800
the 4800 was a local shop and i think they made me over pay.
A: Good price as the engine is pulled and rebuilt so there is a lot of labor at 65-85 an hour.
Q: Is there a cabin air filter in a 2002 toyota corolla?
I was wandering if there is a cabin filter in a 2002 toyota corolla. I started taking it apart but there are about 6 bolts and i dont want to go any farther if there isnt one in there?
A: Yes, it is possible. No Tools required to replace.
Open the glove box and disconnect the limiter to allow it to swing full down. You now can see the tray. Push in the two end clips and pull the tray towards you.
Q: With a car amp, how many watts do i need to power a 12" sub in a 2002 toyota corolla?
I just bought a sony xplod 200 Watt amp and an xplod 12 inch sub. I drive a 2002 toyota corolla and i want to know if the 200 watt amp is enough to get me plenty of bass
A: It could be, but really depends on your definition of 'plenty of bass'. The amp and the sub will work fine together, but it won't produce too much bone-jarring bass. Your enclosure will also have an effect on the bass. A ported enclosure will generally produce more bass while a sealed enclosure will be a little tighter. I have (4) JL 10" speakers with a 725 watt MTX Pro-Thunder amp in my S-10 and sometimes I would like a little more punch.
Q: I am looking at buying a Toyota Corolla 2002. The Lemon Aid book says 2002 Corollas are very problematic.?
How good is the Lemon Aid book ? I have found a Toyota Corolla 2002, 123 K Kms. for $ 9000. I am in Canada. The people I have talked to say that the Corolla is a good car. The Lemon Aid book says that Corollas from 2001 - 2006 had serious quality deficiencies. Is the Lemon Aid book reliable ? Any experiences with Corolla 2002. Thank you.
A: Well yes that book is in fact one of the most honest upfront books dealing with vehicles. But if you take the basic buyers rule into effect it makes a lot of sense.
Example the book mentions from 2002 to 2006 that's actually exactly 5 yrs and the buyer rule is don't buy any vehicle model unless it's out for a good 5 yrs bec that's when most of the faults are taken care of by the manufactures.
So there you go now even I'm a bit surprised by you saying that about Toyota Corolla but again even the best cars don't become best unless all the faults in assembling them are removed by the manufactures. It sounds like they got the bugs out by the yr 2007.
Hope that helps and best of luck
Q: how do i raise up the front seat of toyota corolla 2002 ?
how do i raise up the front seat of toyota corolla 2002 ? I could not find it on the user manual. do i need to use a booster seat? what's the best option?
A: The Corolla does not offer the POWER SEAT OPTION which is an upgrade from the Baseline on most Toyota models. FYI it does costs extra dollars but what that particular option does is there is a lever on the left side of the driver's seat which reaching down it allows whoever is in the driver's seat to adjust forward/backward, as well as up & down.
Hope the Above Info Helps!
Q: how hard is it to replace a catalytic converter on a 2002 toyota corolla?
The check engine light on my Corolla went on last week, and it turns out that it is the catalytic converter.
Is this something I can do by myself? Also, do I really need a catalytic converter? How long can I drive the car safely?
A: It's simple, provided it's not too rusty. Even then you can hack saw the bugger off. Unless you go in for emissions testing in your area, you can replace it with a straight pipe. This won't harm the car.
Q: How do I convert my 2002 Toyota Corolla conventional headlights to halogen?
My headlights are just about done. I would do better holding a candle out the window. I was thinking about converting to halogen. What would this require? Do I need a whole new headlight assembly and bulbs? Am I going to incur any problems with overheating/possible fire? I've never replaced headlights before. Any advice is appreciated.
A: They are already halogens to start with. If you want to upgrade bulbs, get some aftermarket Phillips bulbs, been proven to be brighter and shine more light to the road then factory bulbs. Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY BLUE BULBS!!!! They will melt your harness and cause a fire. If you want a tinted color look, buy some PIAA bulb's, do not buy cheap bulbs or you will regret it in the long run.
If you want HID's(like on BMW's, Mercedes, Lexus) get a HID drop in kit. They run from 300-600. If you do get these, do not go above 6000k. Factory HID's are 4300K, because these are the brightest and puts the most lights to the road. The higher the K, the dimmer it gets and the more glare it produces. go to www.intellexual.net for more info. BTW, these kits are illegal/not for street use.
Q: How do I make my 2002 Toyota Corolla faster?
What mods would you reccomend? What can I take off the car to make it lighter?
A: you cant make it fast. unless you plan on spending tens of thousands of dollars in over night parts from JAPAN! then you could get an 8 speed tranny and enough NOS to blow yourself up, period. then my friend. youd be fast, and quite possibly, furious.
Q: How do I get new keys for my 2002 Toyota Corolla?
I lost the master, bought the car used and don't know the key codes. What do I do?
A: Just go to a locksmith
Q: Where can I find a replacement steering wheel for my 2002 Toyota Corolla?
I tried the dealership and $700 is out of my price range. So where else can I find replacement steering wheels?
A: Junk yards always have stuff like that. Auto zone or any other car parts store always have generic steering wheels
Q: Is there a converter for rear speakers in a 2002 Toyota Corolla?
The rear speakers are mounted in a proprietary plastic frame. The speaker unscrews and comes out but the speaker is an odd size. Inserting an after-market speaker will not work since the holes do not line up (learned that the hard way).
Is there an after market appliance that will allow the insertion of after market speakers into the rear deck of my Corolla? Or do I have to live with the crappy stock speakers?
A: My database shows a 6 and 3/4" speaker (also called "oversized 6.5") fits the back of that car. The holes will often not line up, but thats not a big deal. It's usually easiest to use a self-tapping screw, or even a drywall screw and just make your own hole. It can be done easily even without power tools.
One common mistake on Toyotas when DIY installers work on rear speakers... The RED is positive for the right, and BLACK is positive for the left. Doesn't sound logical, but thats how they do it. If you hook it up backwards, you will get NO bass!
Good Luck!
Q: Whats the little black dome on the dash under my registration sticker on my 2002 Toyota Corolla LE?
I just bought the car used a few weeks ago and I noticed the small little dome on the drivers side of the dash, way up by the windshield, just to the left of where the Defroster blower vent is. I wondered if it was anything significant?
A: Usually that's a solar gain sensor.
The use of that could be for one of two possible things (and should be discussed in the Owner's Manual):
1: light sensor for automatic headlamps (outside brightness determines when to turn on/off the automatic headlights)
2: light sensor for the climate control system (outside brightness helps to determine how warm/cold it really feels inside the cabin, and the fan speed or warm/cold air is adjusted to compensate for the feel of the sun on your skin)
Sorry, I don't have a Corolla LE, nor the manual, to be sure which it is used for.
Q: Can anyone help me find the fuse that controls the front windscreen washer in a 2002 Toyota Corolla?
I'm trying to work out if it's the fuse or the pump that's broken!
I would love to look in my owners manual, but there was an unfortunate incident with a red smoothie...
A: Buy the service manual
Q: 2002 toyota corolla has a rubbing sound during left hand turns?
The brakes are new and the roters just resurfaced. The bearings are sealed and the cv boot is in great condition. The vacuum guard is not bent, the front alignment is perfect and the car has not ever been in any kind of accident
A: Your front wheel bearings are sealed but that doesn't mean they cant go bad. If you can get the car up on a lift put it in drive and listen to the wheel bearings with a stethoscope, listen to both sides one will definately be louder than the other. My guess from what you said it will be the right side, i just had the same thing about 30 min. ago on a 2005 corolla
